    What a day!

I don’t think I’ve been treated this well at a wedding since I got married! Wow!! Yesterday, my friend and great photographer Jen Santos helped me shoot Anna and Kiah’s wedding in Santa Barbara. At first I was nervous because it was a late wedding (ceremony started at 7pm!) and I was worried that I might not have time to create their slideshow since the reception was scheduled to conclude at 11pm!

So, the wedding was at beautiful Westmont College’s campus which I’ve shot many times. This time though, the ceremony was on the President’s patio. I believe this was a first in the history of the school that the president allowed an event like this to happen there. It turned out that Anna (the bride) got a little VIP treatment thanks to the fact that her grandfather was past president of both Biola University and Wheaton College. Apparently, it pays to play.

At any rate, the ceremony was intimate and rich and wonderful. The bride was absolutely stunning. The families were generous and gracious and kind. We even had multi-story angles and free reign to make it happen. It was a freakin’ shooters dream!

So, with the ceremony done, we only had about 20 minutes to do the slideshow and travel to the reception which was downtown in La Arcada! Once again, it was showit to the rescue. I was laughing when I called David Jay on the way from the ceremony. Before I even arrived at the reception, the slideshow was already done. Stoked!

Once we got downtown I was wondering what I was going to do with myself with the slideshow rolling and was feeling a little hungry but knew that this was an hors d’oevres reception only. Then, in the middle of the dancing and fun, uber coordinators Emily Katz and Abbey Sheets come up to Jen and I apologizing that they didn’t have any vendor meals but not to worry, because they personally went to Palazzio’s (if you’ve ever been to Santa Barbara, you’re smiling right now) to get us dinner, just because they would feel awful if the photographers were having to work with empty stomachs! I was beside myself. Only in America. I love this country. I love Katz and Sheets! Woohoo!

Anyway, the day just got better and better, culminating with the couple walking through Fiesta and hundreds of people clapping and honking on their way to the Hotel Andulucia. You can see all the fun yourself by just ***CLICKING HERE***!

Yet again, I want to publicly thank DJ for his amazing ShowItEffects software … and for his friendship. It was so great to just walk down the street to your place and talk about creating freedom and making all of our photo lives simpler to the wee hours of the morning. What a day!

So I’ve been a long time viewer of SPM, and was looking for an older episode when I cam across the post, I was intrigued by the mention of Wheaton College, so I watched the slideshow, only to discover that the father of the bride had been one of my professors! It was somewhat surreal to have these separate spheres of my life intersect like that!

Anyway, thanks for your great work in hosting SPM.
