Updates and Special Announcement!
- November 18th, 2007I have a lot to be thankful for … and you are a big reason why! I’ve been slow to post recently but thought a quick update might be cool, especially for those of you curious about Fast Track Photographer (FTP) and Cut Frame TV (CFTV).

FTP has been taking off! More and more people are signing up as the book continues to come along. It is amazing the things I’m discovering as I write too. The best part though is that the more people I talk with about it, the more I’m convinced this is really going to make a difference for our industry!
ANNOUNCEMENT: As I get ready for the official launch in 2008, I’ll be sending out a very special Founding Membership Invitation only to those who’ve signed up so you guys can get first dibs on advanced copies of the book, exclusive access to the Flatten Photography Forum and lock your spot at my FTP Quick Start Workshop if you want to. The invites will be coming out soon so be sure to sign up if you want in!
What’s cool too is I’m only going to make 100 founding memberships available, on a first come first serve bases, to make sure the workshops are intimate and really worthwhile for those of you who come.

CFTV is also making moves. I’ve invited a handful of sponsors to support our community to keep making it available for everyone. The costs for bandwidth and development since we began haven’t been cheap but I love what it does for our photo community to have so many of our videos in one place. So, I’m stoked that these superstars are making it happen. More on them soon but I thought I’d just let you know that the sponsors on there are the coolest. Keep an eye out for them as they continue to populate on your behalf!
How cool is that? If you think it is, be sure to tell them so!

Special shout out goes to one of those friends … namely Frederick over at Adobe … who is without a doubt the coolest cat on the block. The way Adobe takes care of their people (you and me) is amazing. Then on top of being top shelf people, they throw in a dock full of killer apps! I was playing last night in CS3 and was likening it to what it must feel like to be a magician. Their products do things I just can’t believe are possible.

Oh ya … then there’s the photography … I laugh all the time when I bump into friends and they ask whether or not I still shoot given all the other stuff that’s going on. What’s hilarious is I’m booking and shooting more than ever but because the FTP System is really working, it feels like a zero impact on me, my family, rockharbor and my businesses. I can’t wait to share!
Along those lines, this weekend I’m going to San Francisco to shoot Lindye and Winn. Their wedding in Malibu early next year is going to be absolutely over the top. I can’t wait.
In early December, my buddies Chris Humphreys and Gabriel Ryan are joining me for Sarah and Shin’s wedding in Santa Barbara. Later in the month Jared Bauman is coming out to shoot Meaghan and Joe’s wedding with me in Palm Springs to finish out the year.

I’ve also been shooting a bunch of family sessions lately for the must-have (and brutally competitive) fridge picture. There’s something I just dig about going into someone’s home and seeing my work on other people’s freezers. I have no idea what that’s about. Do you ever get a rush from stuff like that? I’ve always loved taking pictures, but I think I’ve enjoyed it more this fall than ever before. I’ll put a bunch of these up after Thanksgiving!

Right now I’m in Seattle. I’m home for a day on Tuesday and then drive to the bay area for the rest of the week. I can’t wait to connect with you guys again after Thanksgiving!
Grateful for you.

I signed up for FTP a while ago, but haven’t heard anything yet. Will the Founding Membership Invitation be the first correspondence? I am new to the business side of the photography industry but not new to the art of photography. I am currently working on creating my business and am excited to learn more about FTP! Thanks :).

Hey Trina!
Thanks for your candor. You’re not alone. There’s been so much going on behind the scenes taking ground with FTP, I haven’t been communicating directly with you guys as much as I’d like apart from my blog. That will be changing soon, starting with the invite. I want to get all the kinks worked out so I maximize your time.
Between now and then, if there’s ever anything i can do to help, please don’t hesitate to leave questions here or shoot me an email.
Thanks! i can’t wait to get this rolling …

Thanks Garrett. I’m hoping to hook up with my buddy Amit over at Photojojo for lunch before I head out to shoot.
We’re going to a couple places, starting at the Japanese Tea Gardens around 2:30 and will finish in the dark downtown as people are busy Christmas shopping post Thanksgiving. I can’t wait! If you wanna swing by, shoot me an email.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. So grateful to each of you!

Hi Dane,
What day are you shooting? I’m up in the Headlands today (Friday) from 2pm to 5pm with two couples. If you are shooting Saturday maybe I can make it. Hope you enjoyed Turkey Day.
