$40 Workshop with Mike, Jessica & Dane

    - April 3rd, 2008

Two of my favorite friends and photographers … Mike & Jessica … have graciously made themselves available to help me teach a 4 Week Intensive through RHU at rockharbor church.

    rhuonline.org

What’s cool about this workshop is that it’s for a bigger cause than just learning photography skills. It’s for the sake of equipping photo enthusiasts to tell better stories through their photography, especially in the context of missions and service projects.

    rhuonline.org

All three of us have had chances to honor people’s dignity through telling their stories visually. Of course, many of us do this every day at events, weddings and portrait sessions. But, there’s something about doing it in a third world context that makes bringing their stories home something pretty special. I’ve gone on three trips myself (South Africa, Mexico and India) and, although heartbreaking at times, each picture has with it a remarkable story attached. Finding and telling those stories is worth getting better at. That’s why we’re doing this.

The content will focus both on how to best tell story while honoring your subject and how to best streamline the decision making process in capturing images through a methodical approach to photo capture.

The best part is that we’re all volunteering our time which is why we can offer this 4 week Intensive for just $40. Space is very limited so if you want in, go to rhuonline.org and lock your spot right away. Please remember though that this isn’t just another workshop. We’re learning for the sake of giving ourselves away. If that’s something you want to get better at, please do sign up. If not, please let us save your seat for someone else and instead come to one of our other workshops instead.

Class starts Tuesday, April 8th from 7-9pm and runs for four weeks. How fun is that?

    Keep it true.

    Welcome to the show!

DJ and I decided to hang out over coffee and we wanted to invite you to join us.

Problem is we live in different cities. But, thanks to UStream, we’ll do it virtually which is why I’m the big spender and buying the coffee. It’s also how everyone gets to join in.

Show starts today at 3:30pm and will go for about an hour if you want to join in the fun. See you then!

    Keep it connected.

    Branding Video

    - April 2nd, 2008

    danesanders.com

I’ve received some really affirming emails as well as some great questions about the branding choices for my new danesanders.com site so I thought I’d make a little video explaining why I did what I did.

You can check it out HERE. You also might want to give it a moment to load before you start watching since it’s a large file. I hope it is helpful for you. I’d love to hear what you think!

Of course, big thanks need to go to my friends at Elevation and Cinematic.

    Keep it you.

PS … HEADS UP! Don’t miss my very special UStream chat tomorrow (4/3/08) at 3:30pm PST over at askDane.com.
It’s looking like I’ll have a very special guest who’ll be simulstreaming… who apparently is a good sport, is still single and who’s name is David Jay.

Allie & David Jay … finally!

    - April 1st, 2008

If you haven’t heard already, let the celebration (or grieving) begin! Apparently David Jay has left the Freedom Club for good.

Be sure to hit him up with a congrats. I’m seriously so stoked for my friends. What a gift they are to each other.

Here are a few shots from their recent “getaway” … can you believe they hid this from us for so long? Right underneath our noses … very clever you two!

    What day is it?

    Love you guys.
