Buy the Book

Where Is She At Now?

- September 29th, 2008

Beth is everywhere!

When I wrote Fast Track Photographer, I was certainly hopeful that people would go buy the book.
What I was curious about though was whether people would actually read it.

In fact (true confession time), that’s one of the reasons why I created the Audiobook. I was so nervous I was willing to read it to you if I had to!

So, you can imagine how stoked I was to get unsolicited pictures of friends and supporters reading their copies or just representing… as well as all the incredibly kind words people have shared in emails, in reviews and especially on Facebook, Photography Mentor and the B-School. I have been just blown away!

Because this project has become so personal to me (and apparently to many of you), I’ve decided to nickname my book *Beth* (you’ll get *it* when you read the book). I also thought you guys might enjoy seeing a handful of places where *Beth* has found herself!

If you want to take a picture of her in some fun places (c’mon kids, get creative), shoot them over to me by email (dane@fasttrackphotographer.com) and I’ll post ‘em up.

You guys are so cool.
-Dane

PS… I know that the books are sold out at Amazon. No worries! They ordered a bunch more from me yesterday. While they’re shipping to them to ship to you, the great news is it’s actually better if you purchase from the site directly so you can get the surprise bonus gift that gets sent automatically if you purchase the book or Audiobook. Sweet!

I just finished “Fast Track Photographer” this week – I didn’t realize how much this book would change the way I saw both my business and myself. I gained so much out of it, and I’m still learning to apply the principles learned from my PDNA results. I can’t wait to see how things look next year at this time!

So, I just wanted to let you know, that $25 has been the best investment I’ve spent this year on building my business. Truly transformational.

Thanks, Dane, for putting this amazing resource in our hands!

    Hi Dane,

I was lucky enough to get a link to read your book from David Jay on the “Free to Succeed” tour. Although I am still reading it, I just wanted to tell you how much I am loving it!!! I actually just “booked” my first wedding last week, so of course I am on mental OVERDRIVE!!! DJ gave me the little bit of confidence that I needed to start asking questions of the people around me, now I am hoping for a little more confidence to calm my nerves from “Beth” LOL….So far, its working!!!!!

Much Love, Many Blessings, & TONS of laughs,

    ;) Shannon McFarland

Aw, man! I wish I had thought to take photos of Beth on my Kindle up in Seattle. Hmmm… I wonder where she will go next? ;-)

    Dane,

Have no fear, your book is SO incredibly important for photographers to read, the buzz I hear is that everyone is reading it. I know I posted about it and the link to the ebook on facebook 3 days ago. I took the pDNA quiz and have been shuffling the cards for 2 days now.

I want to be a Beth, granted not a wedding photographer, but a pet photographer. I was quickly turning into a grumpy. You book stopped me dead in my tracks and it has me rethinking EVERYTHING.

What you wrote really will apply to such much more than just photography. I can’t wait to finish “Beth”, but don’t want to cheat and not finish the assignment.

I do have one question though. I am certain I need to be a signature brand photographer. BUT I have an ugly sounding name with a last name that my husband was teased about (Calkins) so I don’t want that to be a part of my branding. Will using a business name other than my real name, work? If I need to rebrand, now is the time as I am taking time off for surgery week after next. Currently my business name is Blue Blossom Photo, but do you think that will work?

Again thank you so very much for this book. You know how things go terribly wrong when you get on the wrong path? That was starting to happen for me. I could feel it but didn’t know what it was or what to do about it. Your book, knocked me right off that wrong path and into a place where I am choosing, wisely who I want to be. At 50 years old, that is powerful.

Thank you and may God Bless you over and over for sending one of his messages out in your book.

Great question Sami… I wonder what your middle name is? There is a long history of folks tweaking their names (I am one of them) to be more remark-able. I do think that building a signature brand is best done around your signature. Even the coolest names are too easily forgotten if they aren’t connected to the person. Just my opinion… I hope that helps!

I have to say, this is one of the best investments I have made into my business so far. It is a great resource and I recommend it to anyone thinking of or already in the photography business.
Thanks Dane for your the effort and energy you poured into this amazing book.

    Hi Dane,

I had trouble sleeping tonight (four nursing night shifts in a row may have something to do with it) so I finally had a bit of time to begin reading FastTrack Photographer. I just wanted take a moment to say thank you, thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into making this book and the online networking tools. I’ve only made it to the end of chapter 2 but many things are already coming into greater focus.

    Dane,
This book is blessing my socks off! That is me in the green with glasses in your photo collage. I won the book (with your autograph, yessss!!!) from my very first PUG meeting in Tacoma at Me Ra’s house. I have read the entire book in almost two sittings!!! This is huge for me because I consider reading such a luxury and hardly have time for it. I couldn’t put it down…and if there was a fire in the house I probably wouldn’t have noticed. :)
Anyway, this book was what I needed at this stage in my business and it was the encouragement that I needed to keep going! I have always felt “less” going the Beth route, but I loved the analogy (I even currently work at the same place she did!) What a great confirmation that my hard work and love for the people around me will really fuel this business.
Thank you so much for your heart to see others flourish and be blessed in their businesses. I am BEYOND grateful and feel so enriched…thank you so much, Dane! It was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time…

    Dane,

You hero ranking just got even higher! I have progressed and defined my goals faster in the past month since hearing you speak at Partnercon and reading “Fast Track Photographer” Thank You! I hoping to get you up to Ventura County to a PUG soon!

    Hi Dane,

I’ve been slowly reading “Fast Track Photographer” since I received it in August. I savor every morsel you provide and really think about the questions you challenge the readers with. This week, I am in Maui with “Beth” in tow and she never left my hands. In fact, I placed my boarding passes in between the pages of the book because I knew the book wouldn’t leave my hands during the long wait and flight.

I was on a layover in Honolulu and Beth was in my hand when I was approached by a gentleman who asked me how I liked the book. I AM ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT YOUR BOOK, so I told him I thought the book was awesome! He introduced himself as your friend, Gene Higa! I also shared how you, Jessica Claire, and Mike Colon were my photography teachers in the Missional Photography class at RockHarbor and Gene informed me that he was well-acquainted with them too. After telling him how I made a conviction that no one and nothing was going to stand in my way of my dream to become a pro photographer, he suggested that I attend WPPI and countless workshops. Gene mentioned a few other photgraophers’ names and one of them was Jasmine Star. I started reading her blog after your description of her in your book and have become so enamored with her work, energy, and brand. In hindsight, I should have taken a picture with Gene and Beth but I was awestruck.

Although you must hear this a million times, I want you to know that you definitely live up to what you “preach” in your book and it has cleared the cobwebs from my mind so that I now have a vision of what kind of photographer I want to be. Discovering my strengths via the pDNA tool has also empowered me through this difficult time of my divorce and has been instrumental in my healing.

Keep on, keeping it real, Dane!!!

    A loyal follower,

    Nannette
