What would blow your socks off?

- February 25th, 2009

WPPI was such a blast this year.

One of my favorite things was the Fast Track Blogger Lounge as well as the Fast Track Jelly on the second floor. None of it could have happened without a crew of folks chipping in.

Between The Bui Brothers, Skip Cohen of WPPI, Amit Gupta of Jelly and Photojojo, the amazing volunteers, the free WiFi, the incredible Jules Cafe cookies (thanks ladies) and cozy lovesac section (SFW), I think we had it pretty good! I can’t believe we were able to offer that for free. So cool.

You can see how my friend Aaron saw it on “The Big Picture” above.

What I’m really wondering though is if you were there (or even if you weren’t), what kind of experience at a trade show could we create next year that would absolutely blow your socks off? Wanna help us make it a reality??

Share with us!!

What would make a space like that remarkable, given that it’s a trade show? No from-the-stands, drive-by, color commentary please… only ideas that you’re willing to make real with us! What I mean is if you have a suggestion, picture yourself helping us make it happen. If it passes that leadership test, share away! We want you to play a part!!

Bless you guys and thanks again everyone!

The bloggers’ lounge was such a great idea. I loved it! Can’t wait to see what you come up with for next year. :)

Thanks for posting my video Dane! The Fast Track Blogger Lounge was such a great idea. Hmmm…how do you improve something that’s already great? Heated Lovesacs and tray-passed hor d’oeuvres maybe? No but seriously, I think introducing a truly LIVE experience for viewers at home would take it up a few notches for sure. I’d love to live-stream straight from the lounge to the internet for people that couldn’t make it to WPPI. And maybe a couple live-streamed mini-workshops too! Anyhow, I’ll keep brainstorming.

Thank you so much for providing this for my poor husband who was a WPPI widower! I think he spent the entire trade show on a LoveSac!

[...] connect with such great friends. This year Aaron and I had the fine opportunity to partake in the Frasttrack Bloggers lounge. Aaron streaming his vlogging of the Big Picture and Natalie and I hosting an Epic Hunt which took [...]

Next years blogger lounge needs to feature an area with one well established photographer who can commit to spending 45 Minutes sitting down and laying down a question for a group sitting in that area. This group can be free to sit down in. You need to arrive early enough first. :-) After the 45 Minutes is up, the group can continue to chat and then the rest of the day there will be a special area of the lounge where photographers can sit down and openly share advice, give advice for each others blog, website, marketing campaign, etc.

The lounge was a fabulous idea Dane. My idea would be a drink vending machine at the blogging lounge, you had to walk for ages to find somewhere to get a refreshment, charge for it as we mind paying for it but it would be nice to have it handy to the tradeshow :)

  9. Cathy Crawley Says:

oops, that was meant to say that we DONT mind paying for it :)

  10. Jules Bianchi Says:

I LOOVED the Blogger’s lounge, Dane, and Jules Cafe was really happy to participate. We would love to be involved again next year!

thanks for sharing you info with us and i look forward to becoming a signature photographer. hope to join you guys in the bloggers room next year! still working on my PDNA.

  12. barbara (soon to be dieppa) Says:

The bloggers lounge was great!!! I was there every day! What was great about it, was it didn’t feel like it was a coffee shop and you had to hover around like a vulture for a seat. There was always enough room on a lovesac to share! I think that it was such a success, it should be in the MIDDLE of the showroom! It could be the hub of the tradeshow! People really appreciated the free wi-fi, the information that the Bui Brothers gave, the networking, and the Fast Track Photographers book! Great work! Can’t wait for next year!

  13. Matthew J. Wagner Says:

I love the ideas of live video coming from the lounge. The chair massages are a great idea too.

Why not combine Aaron’s idea of a live video feed (NEED MORE FREE BANDWIDTH) with Stephen’s idea of Fast Track group mentoring.

I had trouble getting the WiFi to work every time I stopped by the booth. I would be happy to volunteer to help get (and keep) the WiFi working next year.

Thanks for the autographed book Dane!
