Santa Barbara Destination Wedding | Gia & Victor

- August 2nd, 2009

One of the best weddings I’ve ever shot.

I can’t thank Gia & Victor enough for including me in their special week of celebration… after three non-stop days of shooting and over 11,500 images all I can say is it was just an incredible experience and perhaps the most awe-inspiring destination wedding I’ve ever shot!

Many of you have seen the engagement shoot I did with these two but the wedding week was a whole different reality. It was a non-stop, no holds barred experience from start to finish.

Special thanks to Gabriel Ryan & Leila Jones for helping me with the shoot.

But the real credit should go to the infamous Lisa Vorce of Oh So Charming! She created a masterpiece.

This wedding was littered with super hero vendors… from the unmatched Mindy Rice Floral Design to the amazing food from The Food Matters to Julie from Elysium videography to the best DJ in the business, Frank Delour of Soul Messiah.. it was all time.

I hope you like the slideshow… more coming soon!

Keep it you.

PS… Thanks to Triple Scoop Music for their contribution to this week’s slideshow. You guys are the best.

Another Book in Print and AskDane.com

Lou's new book!

I was so honored when I finally got my hands on Lou Jacobs’s new book Professional Wedding Photography: Techniques and Images from Master Photographers.

I was approached by Lou a couple of years ago about this project – way before Fast Track – and was honored to be listed along side friends like Jen and Stephen Bebb, John and Dalisa Cooper, Chenin and Doug Boutwell, Stacy Kane, Cliff Mautner and many others. Each of us have a dedicated chapter where we answer questions as well as feature extensive portfolios. It’s weird to see images created so long ago just now going to print. Book publications are so different from magazines.

Carlie and Gabriel

I was laughing when I saw my image of Carlie and Gabriel Ryan‘s wedding on the back cover. I was actually the officiant and brought my camera just for fun. It was actually Jasmine Star‘s shoot.

It reminded me of a wedding I shot a while back where Mike Colon came along with me. I think he had his images from the event published about 30 seconds after the reception. It was hilarious…

PS… I sent an email out to my friends a couple days ago and asked if anyone had any questions they wanted help with… and anything was fair game. I was blown away by the literally hundreds of questions that came back in a matter of hours! The content was absolutely fascinating. I think it revealed a lot of where our industry is right now.

In response, what I’ve decided to do is… drum roll please…. I’m going to re-ignite my Photo Minute Podcasts under the new name, AskDane.com.

It will take a bit to get rolling given the volume of questions, but I’m totally up for it. I’m hoping to start production very soon and thanks so much for bringing up so many fantastic ideas to talk about! I can’t wait!! In fact, feel free to keep them coming in the comments below…
